I guess most girls, like me are tired of waxing & shaving everyday yet we have to do it unless you wanna scare people off with a bushy armpit when you hold the handlebars in train or bus? Or hairy legs that look like black stocking? Or a bushy and very visible underlip that make you manly? :p
We have long heard about IPL treatments which uses laser to permanently stop hairgrowth. But most people relate IPL with Pain + Expensive.
I signed up an IPL package for lower leg with Beyond Beauty at around $3k about 5 years back, only to realise that my super sensitive skin gets itchy with red spots after treatment. Had no choice but luckily I can convert my package to facials instead, which I am quite satisfied with Beyond Beauty. I could still rmbr during the IPL treatment, I have to mentally brace myself everytime the therapist sent a shot (or shock) to my legs. It wasn't that painful, but a split-second pierce with a flash of bright white light, does make me tense up.
So I had been epilating all these years. Yes it's painful, but it's fast yet keeps me hairfree for days.
Even the sound of my epilator makes Hubby crinch & comment almost every single time
"Ouch, it sounds so painful. Geez.. the things woman do."
Hello? Would you like a hairy wife instead?
4 months ago, Regina Hair Specialist (from Japan) opened a new branch at Junction 8, I chanced upon it when I was buying my then-fave GongCha. A big attractive banner with the words "$128 unlimited sessions of KPL underarm" attracted me like bees to honey.
"$128 for unlimited sessions? Is it too good to be true? Must be hardsell other products to addon etc.."
Being a spa, facial & massage fanatic, I'm all too familiar to the many marketing antics so many salons are practising nowadays. But still, I was attracted enough to go in to ask more about it.
The consultant who attended to me was a sweet Japanese girl, her English was fluent (with a Jap accent) and aside from asking me to fill up a 2 page checklist on my skin condition, she went straight into explaining the promo package which I enquired about. Short & sweet, I signed up on the spot.
What is KPL? Is it the same as IPL?

In short, it works just like IPL. Permanent hair removal.
I have gone for 3 sessions so far. It is almost painless, except for that very slight (almost negligible) electric pulse, I'm sure no one will say it's painful at all.
The salon decor is minimalistic in white, treatment room is a just bed and a cupboard for your to put your clothes and belongings.
You are not allowed to tweeze or epilate once you sign up for the treatment, you can only shave so as to not damage the roots. I've noticed that immediately after the 1st treatment, the regrowth has been much slower and my pits also look smoother and whiter. I did not develop any rashes or itch like the previous round of IPL at Beyond.
The best part, they really practise what they preach - No hardselling at Regina.
Not once during when I signed up for the package and the 3 sessions I went.
I'm really happy with their service, appointment making is a breeze and so far I'm happy with the effects.
In fact, I'm happy enough to just sign up the $98 unlimited sessions package for upperlip hair removal (Promo with ANZ or UOB cards) today. :p Maybe its reverse psychology, with the absence of hardselling and always having therapists asking me to top up for this and that, I find myself looking out for Regina's promos so that I won't miss any good ones out :)
